Description
Painters talk about happy accidents. I painted this and accidently got a drop of staining green on the white background, . ruined it! &. wouldn't come out.. so, like any inventive painter who wants to save their work, I wet, carefully, around the raffia and laid in a paynes gray and indigio background letting it seep in the wet areas.. Then, to make the red-parts of the asparagus stand out, I wet the other side and, working around the raffia, I charged the paper with a combination of colors to get the right shade. Problem solved with a more interesting and dramatic result. Happy me. (asparagus was easier to eat than paint!)

Dear Maria, I think of you so often with wonderful memories of painting intershares, and your kindnesses many to me, …a newbie. No longer a novice to FAA, I still continue to re-visit and love my favorites of your portfolio, my dear friend and mentor! I eagerly anticipate seeing one of your amazing vintage repurposing exercises or a diminutive…I KNOW you still have the …”magie d’automne au fond de votre cœur”.

VIVA.. I so appreciate your lovely comment... so did you know that the Deep Grey background came to be because I couldn't get a drop of staining green out and just covered it with Paynes Grey and Cad Red. Thank you thank you for appreciating it : ))

Thank you, Navin. The backdrop came as a result of a drop of staining Green watercolor... no way to remove it.. so I had to get creative.
