Patience is a Virtue

Medium
Painting - Watercolor Painting On Arches 140 #
Description
Protected by a garden wall, this sweet, gentle dove was unmovable, on her pine needle nest built in a cactus. I felt guilty painting her en plein air because she'd stay with the nest. Alas, art won out. The morning sun made her glow in the light and the cactus had so much light and shadow. I finally took a photograph to ease her concern of my presence. The babies safely managed their first flight. You will also see this painted in oil on canvas.. but this watercolor version is my favorite.

You are too kind, Shirley. At this time I was trying to figure how the various mediums could be used for various results. I preferred painting this in watercolor rather than oil.. but, what the heck I was new and didn't know how to use either very well. I just appreciate your selecting this work to comment on. I was quite proud of doing my first bird.. Your work is so inspiring. Thank you for commenting on mine... f/l

Thank you so much Laurel. This dove sat so patiently, hoping I'd leave,. Devoted to those babies. ( I took a picture and gave her a break)
