I had just completed my first watercolor course. It was June in Palm Desert (Underscore DESERT) and I set out to paint my first "plein air" watercolor desertscape. I was set up off the path, I'd mist the paper and begin painting. My paper dried so fast, it made free, loose painting difficult.So, the scene: the purple flowers were Texas Ranger (plant name) the spiky ones were agave that had already bloomed, and the Santa Rosa Mountains are in the background. It was about 8AM, 108 degrees F. As an aside, you'll note I do not have many "plein air" watercolor landscapes in my gallery. Oil painting, for this purpose, was easier in the desert. I completed the painting, went home, and signed up for oil painting classes...

I love this charming watercolour!! yes when the weather is too hot, it is hard to do wet watercolours, i have had this same issue before so i just wet an area and just work on that area, then move on to the next, one area at a time… very nice colour flows in your painting!! very lovely art!! L/F
