While visiting my plein-air painting partner in Federal Way, Washington, rain started, and we went out for flowers, set up a still life and began painting indoors. I just wanted to paint something simple, understated, and ignored all the other elements in the still life and just painted the flowers in a vase. This started out as a controlled watercolor painting. I spritzed the paper and things began to happen. I liked the wet-into-wet style of painting this bouquet of sunflowers. It was loose and free. To add more fun, I splattered paint so when people see it, they know it was created with a free spirit.. and love.

She spends one week a month teaching art to Children (and older versions of children) She...
