Farming in the Desert: Up Close and Personal Over 50 paintings were prepared for an exhibit extolling the beautiful fruits and vegetables grown in the desert. There are over 300 row crops grown in the desert. The exhibit showed purple cabbage up close with the sun backlighting the magenta veins in the elegant leaves, or early sunrise on the desert mountains as a backdrop to fields of Red & Green Lettuce glowing.
