While on a painting retreat south of Seattle, with perfect weather, a picnic lunch, and clear skies, a friend and I set out to paint Mt. Rainier reflected in a large lake, surrounded by evergreens. With my first painting finished, I had 30 minutes to spend while she finished her larger painting.. I painted the second version of the same mountain scene. Picnic by the lake is the smaller, second painting. I figure if I do it one more time, I might just master those reflections.

After 30 years as a successful business woman, Maria Hunt, finding the nest empty, and having fulfilled her role as financial contributor, retired to the Palm Springs area, pursuing her childhood dream of studying and creating art.
