In a drawing course, the instructor gave the homework assignment of drawing a white egg on a white background. At critique time we all pinned our works to the wall and were asked to discuss the difficulties we experienced. After a few were called on, I raised my hand... I couldn't work out how to make one egg interesting and had drawn 3 eggs to make a better composition... She said "I did say ONE Egg, class... Maria's is the one with THREE." and rolled her eyes. (EMMbarrassing) I explained my difficulty with getting sufficient contrast from vine charcoal.. and we moved on to the next problem. everyone had the same miserable results. That night, I placed a single egg on a white paper and set up the lighting to get an elongated shadow to make it interesting.. and titled it "One Egg Only" and turned it in the next day.
