Description
Once the backdrop was painted, these intricately designed villages, sifted decomposed granite to act as gravel along the tracks, (then glued in place) intricate wiring designs controlling directions of trains, sound, speed. Small river rock becomes boulders, trees, tumbleweeds were installed, in this image a small group of Boy Scouts hike just below the tracks.. I put in a new moon and, as part of his design, "Lost Wages" in the distance and several eagles fly above the desert scape. One inch below the distant city of Lost Wages, If you place your cursor to enlarge, you'll see his boy scout troupe on a hike below the train tracks

Thank you, C J. This was such a creative project.. The "Chief Designer and Train Engineer" had a vision of Fair skies on the right, Sunset and the back of the room, cumulus clouds on the left and an lightening strike and storm.. the moving back to light cumulus. I added the Salton Sea at the opposite end of the room, just above the designer's desk. .. If there were tracks, I painted a scene. I love the work he did as the foreground... He blended the color precisely with the backdrop painting... the story instantly became the railway and the bordering cities, farms, pilot training facilities and train stations... Impressive room.

Thank you, Barry It was one of those fantastic opportunities to work out a backdrop in the mind then... play for 70 hours creating it.

Thank you, Cristina. I'll probably never have as much fun creating something as wonderful as this project. It was pure fun to imagine it and start with charcoal sketch on the 90 feet of wall length, get approval for concept, then filling it all in with mountains, desert trees, canyons, eagles, clouds .. just sheer fun.
