Artist's Description
On a afternoon walk, this part of the swollen creek looked picturesque. The palms grow along any fault line within the desert. The Palm is actually a grass, rather than a tree, and their roots go far down into a fault break in the earth. The cottonwood trees grow along the creek and provide us "desert dwellers" with a reminder of Autumn along the creek in the Indian Canyons

About Maria Hunt
"ART, something I always wanted as part of my life, HAS become a passion that fills my soul, and leaves me full of joy, one brushstroke at a time." Maria Hunt After 30 years as a successful business woman, Maria Hunt, finding the nest empty, and having fulfilled her role as financial contributor, retired to the Palm Springs area, pursuing her childhood dream of studying and creating art. She started in 2000 with art classes at College of the Desert. She refined her skills in plein air painting by attending workshops across the U.S. The years left to get "really good" at art are diminishing, and her focus is laser sharp. She spends one week a month teaching art to Children (and older versions of children) She...

Thank you, Jirka and Connie. When ever I have visitors here in the desert, I pack up a picnic lunch and take them on a hike along the creek in Andres Canyon, stopping at a lovely spot beside the creek and experience "Creek side dining" sitting on boulders, as you see above, and soaking up the peace. You are right, Connie, under the palms, sheltered from the desert sun.. it is a little bit of heaven.

I sense a feeling of Shelter here .. ; this painting is comforting (even if the palm trees do burrow their roots into a fault line! .. that is interesting}. Lovely artwork from lovely you, Maria :))
