Artist's Description
The process to create this painting was to add crumpled tissue onto wet watercolor paper (300lb), pressing out the air bubbles to allow the pigment to reach the surface of the Watercolor paper. Once dried, the tissue was removed, and a contemplative or meditative approach was employed to determine what the image was to be. There is a magical connection between the image and the artist, where the image begins to form in the artist's mind.. no vase and no flowers, just the imagination of what could be. Wet pigment was applied to the dry painting to first, define, then, refine the images that began to appear. I couldn't understand how everyone in the workshop kept getting wonderful flowers, and I kept getting grapes and grape leaves. On my 5th try, I found ... this, "flowers from the imagination." The entire paper was soft and flowing, much like the area in the upper right corner.
