Description
I was commissioned by the city to transform the large Traffic Signal Box on Fred Waring & Palm Royale, into a work of public art. The larger "Traffic Signal Box" needed a light color palette to avoid drawing heat to the metal box (thereby frying the computer inside.) The design for the smaller box just had to match. working around handles, doors, light sensors The second box has a golfer painted from each direction of the swing, His wife had him hold the swing pose then photographed him from front, rear and each side. I worked from the photographs to get the body from the right perspective. Directly across the street is a golf country club. The 17th green is portrayed in the larger box in front of the "golfer". The box has each side coordinated with adjacent sides . The colors of the mountains, sky and those in the distant were matched by painting this on site carefully going into empty streets to make sure the colors were exact. Painting had to be done while the metal was still cool and traffic, at that time of the morning was almost non-existent.
