In the Winter, it is delightful to pack up the easel, paints, lunch and take a friend to plein air paint with. A few years back, we headed to Painted Canyon, an hour drive East of Palm Springs. I know the image isn't exciting but the walls flanking this canyon were amazingly smooth, seeming "protective from the strong winds and sand storms. During storms, I could imagine the local wildlife finding shelter in this "Mighty Bulwark".
