Description
In order to get a fresh approach to this cauliflower, I went to the fields and got permission to cut a small cauliflower, keeping the protective leaves in place. I hadn't realized that each section that made up the culiflower was, in fact, a spiriling flower or floret. It was so beautiful and delicate, I fell in love. I used pen and ink, after the painting was complete, to emphasize the design.

Thank you, Johanna. I didn't realize it was called "Cauliflower" until I tried to draw it and, by, jove, each "floret" was shaped like a spiraling out rose. Just beautiful, with such graceful leaves

Conni, I thank you for these kind observations. It was fun to do.. I made two versions: Side and top... This was more difficult.

Your vegetables series are just wonderful, Maria - I agree that cauliflower is a lovely "flower" in the way that it's formed. I also love the green Romanesco broccoli with the spikes at the top of each floret, like a Fibonacci spiral . . . nature is amazing! http://www.ourbreathingplanet.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/231.png.
