"ART, something I always wanted as part of my life, HAS become a passion that fills my soul, and leaves me full of joy, one brushstroke at a time." Maria Hunt After 30 years as a successful business woman, Maria Hunt, finding the nest empty, and having fulfilled her role as financial contributor, retired to the Palm Springs area, pursuing her childhood dream of studying and creating art. Fascinating to me, too, RJ is that they were able to pinpoint the headwaters of the Mississippi.... back in 1779... . I am amazed by this map.

How cool Maria. The way the preview works I can't see where I live on it. But what a find. l/f/t

Wonderful image and Great Find, Maria..................v.
If you place your cursor on the great lakes for the system to zoom in, you'll see that Lake Michigan was previously Lake Illinois. I love the state lines are so different from those of today. Frozen Ocean and "Great Parts Unknown" are fun. Thank you for your comments. I have enjoyed the map but have put it up for sale.
Congratulations on your features and thank you for being the conservatrix of this historic artifact. I love the older place names.
Excellent shot, Maria...this would look awesome framed as a large print on a wall! Nice work, Maria! L/F
You are an amazing man, RJ. I have to see your maps one day... Like you, I am intrigued with the works of mapping our world!! Thank you so much...
Hi Maria! Oh oh!---- I love maps and purchased 2 ea. 241 year old maps for my children's series and posted them in my mpa gallery. Yep they could be the only two I'll ever own. I purchased a Switzerland ( for William Tell) and a Britain (for the Robin Hood). It was not so much that they were old as they were beautiful. You have a great one here. We could end up collecting these darn things. FAV
1700s Map Of North America WOW ... Navin L/fav
When you are curious about an area, you can zoom in on it... the five "great lakes" include "Illinois" rather than Michigan.. It is un to explore
Wow, what an amazing find, dear Maria!!! Very cool, my friend!! :)))vf
I was assured the map was well over 100 years old. The creases remain but it has been restored.
I like old maps like this too, Maria. I imagine if I had found it I would have purchased it like you. I can see it is most likely a reproduction as it doesn't look to be centuries old. Thank you for sharing this with us.
